Home Remedies for Cold Sores – Whole Milk

One effective way of reducing cold sores is to allow a glass of whole milk to sit at room temperature for about ten minutes and then soaking a cloth into the milk. Place this on the cold sore for about ten minutes. You may also use a cotton ball instead of a cloth.

Home Remedies for Cold Sores – Lysine

Arginine is an amino acid that the Herpes virus used to replicate itself. Using Lysine, another amino acid, counteracts Arginine preventing the blisters from developing. It is recommended you take a supplement of 2000 to 3000 mg per day. Lysine can be found in most health food stores.

Home Remedies for Cold Sores – Ice

When cold sores first begin to develop they will itch and burn profusely. Place an ice cube directly on the area for a few minutes when you first notice it burning and itching. You can repeat this every ten minutes. It doesn’t rid you of the cold sore itself but it definitely helps with the pain of it.

Home Remedies for Cold Sores – Aloe Vera

Use the gel or juice to dab onto the affected area for quick relief of pain. This will also moisturize the area and prevent it from cracking open.
