Home Remedies for Chafing

Many people suffer from chafing. Chafing can occur between your thighs, under your breast and in many other areas of the body. Friction along with the area being moist is what causes chafing so many people find that during the hot summer months when they are sweating more that chafing can become a real problem. Here are several home remedies for chafing that will help you get rid of your issue.

Home Remedies for Chafing – Aloe Vera

Many people over look aloe vera when they think of a home remedy for chafing. Most people associate aloe vera with burns but it is also great for almost any other skin issue such as chafing. You can use aloe vera straight from the plant or you can also purchase aloe vera gel in the health and beauty area of a store. My personal suggestion is to purchase the clear gel as the green colored gel has coloring in it and may irritate from skin issues.

Home Remedies for Chafing – Oatmeal and Olive Oil

To make this home remedy for chafing combine 1 cup dry plain oatmeal with 2 tablespoons olive oil. Mix into a paste. If the oatmeal is to dry add an addition tablespoon but be careful not to make the oatmeal runny, remember it is a paste. Apply this mixture to the affected area and allow to sit on the area for 30-40 minutes. You can also apply before bed and cover with gauze and tape in place.

Home Remedies for Chafing – Cornstarch

Cornstarch is an easy and inexpensive way to get rid of chafing. Simply wash the area with antibacterial soap and allow it to completely dry. Apply a liberal amount of cornstarch to the chafing area and leave it. You can reapply as needed.

Home Remedy for Chafing – Vitamin E, Vaseline and others

A quick visit to your medicine cabinet will help you make this next home remedy for chafing. Take one cup of A&D and Vaseline and mix then thoroughly together. The add one fourth of a cup of aloe and vitamin E to the mixture. Stir and apply a layer to the chafing area. This will protect the area and help it heal.

personally i have had issues with chafing for over 13 years. every summer when it gets hot and sweaty my inner thighs and bum cheeks get rather bothered and your home remedy prove not only sucsessful but cost effective in this time of economic townturn. i do have a few wise words to add. the oliveoil and oats chaf solution is actually more soothing when runny, the paste isnt as good, i would only recomend the paste solution when taping gauze to the area overnight, makes it easier to hold seal and relplenish the area all night.

also with chafing, i notice sometimes that people in the street notice the obscure way i walk, i find it really hard to hide my discomfort due to my tender area. do you have any walking tips or new styles that i could use in the future

thanks for all your help

hey!
i have trouble with chafing between my legs as well and i have two solutions depending on how adly u chafe and how much your legs rub together

1.if they're not that but get uncomfortable after some time try deodorant or anti antiperspirant between your legs

2. Simply wear a pair of form fitting cotton shorts under your pants. I've bought a pair of $5.00 capris and cut them and i've bought shorts specifically meant to wear under skirts and dresses to help when your thighs rub. If you're plus sized, check any plus size store, they may have some

The best cure for chafing is not eating as much you fat american slobs.

While I agree that fat american slobs should lose weight, this can also affect normal sized people too. It happens to my thighs sometimes and I'm a perfectly healthy weight.

I'm 5'9 and 170 lbs and I have chafing problems (upper inner thigh). I ran when I was younger but I sweat more now that I am middle aged. I usually run an hour to hour and a half several days a week and the sweat coupled with the friction has caused problems for me. At first, I didn't know what the problems was. I thought it had to be some type of fungus or something. I used fungal creams which never worked, then I realized my upper inner thighs were brushing up against each other and the sides of my underwear. I'm gonna look into finding better shorts and continue applying vaseline in area before I run.
