First of all the toothpaste will make it seem as if the itch of the sting is being scratched due to the tingling it causes. It is also contains glycerin which dries out the venom in the area where the sting is located.

Honey is also considered to be one of the best home remedies for bee stings. The honey contains enzymes that neutralize the venom and helps to calm the pain. Some people add a dab of lemon juice to the honey before applying it to the area involved and then cover it with a band aid. The lemon juice will help to sanitize the area stung. I tried the meat tenderizer idea for my bee stink. It helped. It really worked at helping the pain stop and drawing out the stinger.
