No matter where you live there are ants. There are carpenter ants, house ants, even fire ants. Ants are not usually a problem until they come inside homes or as in the case of fire ants, bite people. When these things happen people often will try home remedies for killing ants first before they use chemical insecticides. Some of the most popular home remedies for killing ants are molasses paste, vinegar, borax or cucumbers.
Home remedies for killing ants with molasses
This is one of the best home remedies for killing ants if you don’t mind a little stickiness. Mix ¼ cup molasses with 4 tablespoons of dry active yeast and 4 tablespoons of sugar. Stir well and put in bottle caps or small cup. Put out where ever you see ants. This mixture is safe with humans and pets alike, while still being one of the best home remedies for killing ants.
Home remedies for killing ants with vinegar
Vinegar is an ingredient that kills ants on contact. Use a spray bottle filled with regular or cider vinegar and spray ants. This is also a good for use outside around the perimeter of the house or outside the windows.
Home remedies for killing ants with cucumber
Cucumber peels are a natural and safe ant repellent. Take slices of cucumber peel and place around window seals. Use the cucumber peel as a deterrent around the outside of your house foundation. Ants will go out of their way to avoid the cucumber peels.
Home remedies for killing ants with Borax
Borax can be mixed with a sweetener like jelly or sugar and a little water to kill ants. Put the mixture in small bowl or bottle cap and place where you have ants. Some people put the mixture on cotton balls and put around the house. Borax is slightly toxic and should not be used around children and pets.

Borax can be found in the laundry area of your local store and it is great for also killing fleas.
I really would love something to keep those little pests at bay. Tried everything and can't seem to find a solution.
What a great resource of information. I am so glad that I found this site.
I have found the best thing for ants is ground cinamon. ants hate it and will avoid it. The only problem with it is that it wont stick to walls or railings where the ants are marching... but i put it on my counter last night when i had an infestation and sprayed with cleaner, wiped the counter down with the cinamon/cleaner mixture and this morning no more ants!! maybe i will mix some cinamon with the cleaner in a bottle and spray directly on the ants.. will let you know how it works...
UPDATE!!!! I put some grape jelly in a peanut butter lid a few days ago. I placed it beside a post that I had problems with thousands of ants climbing daily. I noticed yesterday there were about a hundred ants stuck to the jelly dying. I did the research today and went to put boric acid in the jelly or spray with cinamon mixture and noticed the ants were all gone!! The Jelly worked!! Be patient, it may seem like they are never gonna find it but they will and when a few dies they will get the idea that hey this isnt such a good idea and they will leave and find some other place. I used to spray this post on my back porch daily with vinager, bleach, pesticide, etc to kill the ants and they kept coming back. A friend of mine told me about the jelly. Try it yourself and be amazed in a few days!
