Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

The risk of developing kidney stones can be lessened by following everyday guidelines to prevent their formation. Kidney stones can be made of calcium-oxalate as well as uric acid, and watching the intake of certain foods can help to reduce their occurrence dramatically:

Home Remedies for Kidney Stones #1:

Monitor your oxalate intake. It is important to get your daily dose of vegetables and fruit, but many of these healthy foods contain oxalates that can contribute to the growth of kidney stones. Stones made of calcium-oxalate can form if a person's diet is high in cola, chocolate, peanuts, beets, nuts coffee, strawberries, rhubarb, tea, spinach and wheat bran. Your doctor will tell you to stay away from these foods in order to avoid forming kidney stones.

Home Remedies for Kidney Stones #2:

Uric-acid stones are formed when diets are rich in animal protein. Monitoring your intake of meat, especially red meat and certain types of fish will reduce the formation of uric-acid stones. The breakdown of purine in protein rich foods is a major cause of uric-acid stones as well, and shrimp, mussels, anchovies and other foods such as beer and wine in moderation can cut down the instance of these stones.

To avoid getting kidney stones you should also make sure that you drink at least 30oz of water each day to help clear your system of impurities that cause kidney stones.

I'm prone to getting kidney stones also, my doctor said that it's just the way that my body processes what I eat. When I start feeling the obvious pains signalling that I have another kidey stone on the move, I drink a mouthful of real lemon juice, not imitation, not diluted, real lemon juice. The acids in it disolve the sharp "spikey" edges that cause it to become lodged in the urethra, so it can pass normally. I was at the emergency room about twice a year before, but since I've been doing this (for about 8 years now) I haven't been back.
