Home Remedies for Jock Itch

Jock itch occurs when the groin area becomes a moist breeding ground for the fungus Trichophyton Rubum. Taking care during the hot summer months by wearing loose clothing, or preventing overheating in the winter by reducing layered clothing helps to prevent the occurrence or recurrence of jock itch. These home remedies will help to reduce and prevent these occurrences also.

Home Remedies for Jock Itch #1:

Use an antibacterial soap when cleaning the groin area such as Lever 2000, Safeguard or Dial and be sure to rinse the area thoroughly.

Home Remedies for Jock Itch #2:

Be sure to dry the area after washing with a blow dryer to get the best result, but take care with heat settings as heat causes perspiration. Towel drying can be used if the area is dried thoroughly leaving no moistness or wetness behind.

Home Remedies for Jock Itch #3:

Creams with clotrimazole and miconazole treat this fungus best and can be found in Micatin or Lotrimin, available over the counter. It takes around four weeks to completely cure mild instances of jock itch, but more severe cases will need a doctor's prescription for a cream with a stronger dose of those active ingredients.
